通常来讲“付费类父母移民签证” （CONTRIBUTORY PARENT VISA） 可以分成两类：

父母移民签证基本条件和规定
此签证要求由您在澳大利亚的子女或其他符合条件的担保人来担保。此类签证适用于如果您的子女或养子女在签证申请递交时其作为澳大利亚公民、永久居民或有效的新西兰公民在澳洲定居超过2年。
所有父母移民签证的申请都需要符合“家庭成员平衡比例测试”标准：申请人至少有一半以上的子女长久居住在澳大利亚或您的子女中居住在澳大利亚的比居住在其他国家的要多。
要符合此项标准，主申请人需要满足以下条件：
1） 申请人至少有一半子女和继子女是澳大利亚公民或永久居民并在澳洲居住，或者；
2） 在澳洲永居的子女比在其它国家永居的子女多。
家庭平衡测试中所涉及的子女包括：子女，继子女，收养子女等。
对于已获得143类别父母付费类永居签证的申请者，在签证颁发之日起5年后才可以再担保其配偶移民。
